CGD City gas Distribution :-

City gas distribution is a distribution of gas through pipe line to domestic and industrial sectors. In this system PNG and CNG sold to many segment via pipeline laying and other equipments. Natural gas is generally used in CGD distribution

Pipe  used in CGD distribution are 
1. Steel Pipe 
2. MDPE Pipe 
3. GI Pipe
4. Copper tube

Natural Gas :-

Natural gas is clean and odour less gas it is consist of mainly Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane, O2, N2, H2S, CO2 and others

Natural gas production started in India in 1980s.
ONGC was producing oil and gas which comes as associated gas as energy

Gail setup pipeline infrastructure in 1980s to transport gas - HVJ ( Hazira - Vijay agar - jagdishpur) West to North.

Decision to import gas in the form of LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) was taken by Petronet LNG setup by Gail by 50 % stake and 50 % others.


Properties of Natural Gas :-


1. Specific Gravity (air 1.0): -       0.56 to 0.67

2. Boiling Point     :-                        - 161°C

3. Melting Point.   :-                        - 182°C

4. Flash Point        :-                        -  161°C

5. Auto ignition Temperature :-         560°C

6. Critical Pressure :-                           45.99 Bar

7. Critical Temperature :-                 -  82.59°C

8. Flammable Limit  :-           5% - 15% by volume                                                     of air
