Electric motor Testing

Test of Electrical Motor :-

In any industry it is very important to test motor before dispatch,

It can be done by monitoring of motor CBM 

To reduce failure and cost cbm is conducting while electrical motors manufacturing and testing. 

There are various types of Test 

1. Static test :-

  these types of test are done when motor is in static conditions. These test include IR (insulation Resistance), PI (polarisation index), RTD and BTD, High voltage test. 

2.Routine  test :- 

these test are very important to check durability and strength of motor it include static test, Vibration test, magnetic center alignment test, 

3. Typed Test :-

 these test are done after routine test it include mix frequency test, over voltage, over current and over speed test, noise test, 

Description of test :-

Insulation Resistance Test :- 

this test is used to check insulation of conductor wrt body it is done by device called magger 

PI polarisation index. :- 

it is ratio of one minute IR to ten minutes IR

PI = (1 minute IR value / 10 minutes IR Value) 

RTD Resistance Temperature Detector :-

 it is resistance temperature detector it is used to check temperature rises of winding. Rtd is platinum plate which is highly temperature sensor device it is kept behind each stator winding of induction motor 

BTD  Bearing Temperature Detector

bearing temperature detector it is used to check bearing temperature rises. 

High voltage test :-

 it is very important test to check capability of motor. It is done by raising voltage in motor twice + 1kv of rating voltage 

High voltage = ( twice+1) kv of rating voltage
